About
Who we are and the principles we work by.
EQUAL is an independent initiative that collects and publishes information on the human rights situation in Latvia. We work with publicly available sources, official documents and first-hand accounts.
Our aim is simple: information about rights should be available to everyone living in Latvia — whatever language they read in.
History of the project
equal.lv ran from 2001 to 2003 as an interactive resource on human rights in Latvia. The project then stopped, and the domain sat unused for years. In 2026 we are resuming it: keeping the name, the mark and the slogan, but building the content anew — in three languages, and starting from today.

Principles
Verifiability
Every publication names its source. Where information is unconfirmed, we say so plainly.
Three languages
Latvian, English and Russian. A language barrier should never stand between a person and their rights.
Safety
We do not publish personal data without consent, and we protect the people who share information with us.
